His cursed the modern builders for not having the faintest on building them. He claimed if you could do it right, it didn't take a single drop of mortar and the wall could withstand incredible pressures. So I hear you! But I'd love to come and swing a pickaxe about widely... aimed at stuff that's supposed to get destroyed, preferably ;-) Sure beats the gym in terms of productivity! So hey, let us know well in advance and your work brigade might grow every so slightly stronger. How are you at hefting large stones and swinging a pickaxe? We had to dismantle a stone wall along the side of the upper stretch of road from Kopriva to Brje, which I don't fully approve of since I LIKE stone walls, far better than the concrete structure they're planning to put in its place. And you could see as we tore it down that someone, or many someones, put a lot of sweat and effort into constructing it, several generations ago. But they're widening and repaving the road (after tearing it up in the winter to lay new water pipes--we had an akcija then, too, to clear brush and growth from a farm lane that we used to get to our village for a couple of months while the work was being done and the road was impassable), and according to the village elders the wall had to go. I don't always agree with the village elders' idea of progress (ask me sometime about the Battle of the Streetlights) but with mixed feelings I contributed to this latest effort--and was the only female member of the road crew.
