Ljubljana Beloved
08/04/2007
Ljubljana, the name of Slovenia’s capital, comes very close to the Slovene word for ‘beloved’, i.e. ljubljena.
Especially in summertime, noting beats having a nice dinner by the river in the ‘old downtown’ and taking a walk with a friend or that special someone. Add one of the summer festival events for good measure and you’re good to go.
You’ve got to love this town.

I totally agree with you. Ljubljana is adorable and I absolutely love it! If I’d have to change the city, I might as well change the country, because in Slovenia Ljubljana is for me THE place to live. 🙂

First, thank you for visiting my blog and for your very generous comments there. I do so appreciate it a lot.
Second, your post today is very nice and brings back lots of memories for me because these people you spotlighted in your post reminds me of the way Patty, my wife of 52 years, and I used to walk around Greenville, Ohio where we were living right after getting married.
And finally, I could not help but notice lots of people eating out in the evening. That would be a very special occasion for me. I like this photograph a lot.
Thanks for posting it.

The light on the buildings make the photo special.

@all: I’m glad you enjoyed this photo. Even if it’s less than perfect from the technical point of view, it captures some of my favourite things about this town. The shot was taken on the promenade by Ljubljanica river, which runs through the historic part of the centre.
Abraham, eating outside like that with all those people around in a cozy atmosphere really is nice. I was lucky enough to have a nice evening like that just yesterday 😉 Cheers to you and to Patty

Filly: Say “Lj je zakon” to those who don’t understand why I left the coast for her 🙂

@Morska: well, obala je zakon, too 😉 Just in a different way. Good to have both just an hour’s drive apart. Only in this country. (Having a patriotic moment there.)
