フィロメナ博士、ごめん!Lately the work is piling up, so it is only now, that I noticed your cry for help. The thingy on the picture is nothing special, it is common japanese traditonal sweet. The green one above is the green tea-flavoured “daifuku”, which means rice cake stuffed with sweet bean jam.
@Luka: So I’m フィロメナ博士, eh? Thanks for solving the mystery! 🙂 Doc was afraid this stuff (brought over by the globetrotting boss w/o any English inscriptions) made her sick… probably not, but is anyone allergic to this stuff?? It will not make my list of favourite desserts, that’s for sure 😉 How I came up with the title is a deep dark secret… I’m babbling now. Things seem fishy to you?
@Adriaan: Whoops I really need a holiday 😉 This was supposed to be written up there: seaweed or algae was my first guess as well, but hey… thankfully we have the now-based-in-Japan Luka who runes to the rescue 😀
This reminds me I should check out the Ljubljana suchi restaurant one of these days. It’s set on the beautifully renovated Wolfova street. You will be amazed at how different the Three Bridges area looks now that it’s been renovated and closed for all traffic.

Seaweed: Dried and then ground up. I’m no expert! I may also be being silly.

And by the way: how did you come up with the title for this post? Because part of it actually makes sense.
