Lisa instantly identified the albino alligator in the previous post. How about this guy from the alligator farm? Should be even easier?

Looks like a baby Komodo dragon! But as far as I know, they aren’t native to Florida.

I’d say a monitor lizard, AKA varan (dragon) of some kind, too. But a smaller species: “varanus indicus” (as funny as it sounds)

@Adriaan & alcessa: So it turns out not to be all *that* easy, but I bluffed and am unsure. I will try to find out exactly which one it is… It was close to the Komodo Dragon exhibit, so who knows… there were so many fascinating animals there I could not remember them all.

I just heard from David Kledzik, the reptile curator at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. He says: “That is our female crocodile monitor, Varanus salvadorii. This is a large species of lizard found in New Guinea.”
Thanks so much, David! And I do warmly recommend a visit to this place that is actually a zoo rather than a farm. One can easily spend an entire day there and never get bored.
